In this article the importance of investigatory independence is discussed. Conceptual aspects of problematic interviewing techniques that may compromise the investigation of sexual abuse complaints are reviewed. Recommendations are made for the analysis of evaluations relative to the degree of contamination that has been introduced into these assessments.
