Distinctive profiles of traits predisposing to violence in schizophrenia and in the general population
2018, Schizophrenia ResearchCitation Excerpt :These include psychopathic and impulsive traits, and trait aggressiveness. Many studies have shown that psychopathic traits are strongly associated with a propensity for violent behavior in the general population (Walters, 2003; Serin and Amos, 1995), and in patients with major mental illness (Skeem and Mulvey, 2001; Hodgins et al., 1999). Similarly, impulsive traits are considered to play a major role in the emergence of aggression in the general population (Barrat, 1994) and in schizophrenia (Enticott et al., 2008; Witt et al., 2013).
