Risk management at the margins: less-familiar topics in psychiatric malpractice

Harv Rev Psychiatry. 1994 Nov-Dec;2(4):214-21. doi: 10.3109/10673229409017139.

Abstract

To help in risk management, the author reviews areas of liability exposure that lie outside the familiar, "mainstream" issues for mental health clinicians. Three such areas are addressed: supervision issues, motor-vehicle driving cases, and so-called "pure" boundary violation cases. In each of these areas, the theoretical underpinning is provided and specific strategies to diminish liability exposure are described.
