2015, Social Science and MedicineCitation Excerpt :Yet these are severe conditions, different from the type of mental health assessed in the present study, which may explain why the differences in depression have either decreased or disappeared after matching. Our findings are in line with prior studies that found lower or no risk of recurring incarceration for offenders with milder forms of mental health problems (Porporino and Motiuk, 1995; Lovell et al., 2002). Our study is not without limitations.
