Editor,

I just finished reading the article by Dr. Brian Cooke, “Becoming a real doctor: my transition from fellowship to faculty,” in the January 2012 issue.

I want to sincerely thank Dr. Cooke for writing this piece. I believe it takes courage to reveal our feelings of uncertainty, self doubt, and vulnerability as professionals, and I commend Dr. Cooke for speaking openly about his experiences.

Reading about his journey has helped me move forward on my own path toward developing a sense of professional identity and competence.
