  • * Del Martin is a strong woman and a strong feminist who has been identified with national and with San Francisco efforts to deal with family violence. She has been co-ordinator of the National Organization for Women’s National Task Force on Battered Women/Household Violence, Chairperson of the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women, and an active member of the Commission’s Violent Crimes Against Women Committee. She is a consultant, writer, and lecturer. Her book Battered Wives was the first major report on this form of violence; it has been widely read and has been used as a college text.
